In 1946 the first of the Nash companies took shape as a residential subcontracting paint company. Woodrow (Woody) Wilson Nash and his wife Augusta Nash founded the company and with sons Reggie, Rod and Ken developed the company away from residential, toward commercial projects. Later in 1968, the company was incorporated and called W.W. Nash & Sons, Inc.

Eventually passed down to all of his children, Reggie, Rod, Ken and Sandra, the company grew throughout the years. Later, in 1988, the company split and W.W. Nash Construction Company was created. W.W. Nash and Sons, Inc. continued handling painting and paper hanging projects while Nash Construction managed the asbestos abatement and the fireproofing jobs.

Today the companies combined employ on average 35 to 40 workers. Recent work has included special projects such as renovating two historical sites; Hayfield Manor (Plantation) in Caroline County and Meadowview Park in Henrico County. At these projects W.W. Nash Construction, Inc. managed the lead abatement and asbestos removal of the historical homes while W.W. Nash & Sons, Inc. handled the interior and exterior painting. Another sizable project was the complete powerwashing and painting of the Oak Hill Shopping Center located on Mechanicsville Turnpike in Richmond. After priming an Elastomeric coating was applied to the exterior of the entire center.
